England's first and only dedicated stand alone spinning studio is set to open in Cambridgeshire this summer.

RIDE Fenland will open the indoor cycling studio in March, Cambridgeshire in around six weeks time, becoming the first of its kind in the UK according to the owners.

Unlike conventional spinning classes typically found within gyms, RIDE Fenland offers a specialist indoor cycling centre focused solely on spinning.

Spinning, or indoor cycling, is a high-energy sport performed on a stationary bike which has adjustable resistance to control the intensity of the workout.

RIDE Fenland business owner Wayne Marshall, who is a Team UK & Ireland SPINNING® Power Master Instructor, said the studio will be an inclusive, community environment for participants of all ages and abilities.

Mr Marshall said: "People should get involved with spinning because it's obviously good for all around fitness, it's low impact on joints, knees back et cetera, and it's a great way of building fitness.

"It's great for mental health, it's great for weight loss and it's a community vibe that we want to try and build."

The studio will also support road cyclists and triathletes with one-to-one coaching.

While spinning studios exist across the country, they are usually part of larger gym facilities.

Ride Fenland will be the first in England to operate as a standalone spinning-only studio.

The business, co-owned by Mr Marshall and Elite Level 3 Coach Andy Cornwell, is still finalising its new location.

Mr Marshall said: "There's no levels and there's no experience needed.

"Spinning is for everybody, you ride at your own pace and your own intensity.

"There is an instructor that leads the class but you work at your own pace and your own level.

"We basically say it's your ride, your road, your resistance."

Classes will feature immersive elements such as music, lighting and visuals to enhance the group exercise experience.

According to RIDE Fenland's website, the instructors all hold official spinning qualifications.

The team is currently asking customers to have their say in shaping their timetable for classes, by leaving a comment on Facebook.
