A team of key regional stakeholders led by the Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Combined Authority (CPCA) took an opportunity to showcase local prospects at the UK’s Real Estate Investment and Infrastructure Forum (UKREiiF) last month.

Known as ‘Team Cambridgeshire and Peterborough’, the collaboration of leading CPCA figures and regional stakeholders acted as a unified regional partnership to promote the area’s growth ambition to the wider world.

Held this year from May 19-21, UKREiiF is an annual three-day real estate investment and infrastructure conference which brings together investors, developers, local authorities, and built environment professionals from across the country.

The team’s aim was to showcase major investment opportunities across Cambridgeshire & Peterborough – which the CPCA describes as one of the UK’s fastest-growing and most innovative economies – in order to attract national and global investments.

CPCA Mayor Paul Bristow said attending UKREiiF was a “fantastic opportunity to showcase the strength and potential” of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.

Over the three days, more than 1,000 investors, developers, business leaders and public sector partners visited the Team Cambridgeshire and Peterborough pavilion to explore opportunities spanning life sciences, advanced manufacturing, defence, regeneration, clean energy and transport infrastructure.

“The interest we received from investors and partners shows just how much confidence there is in our region’s future,” Mr Bristow said.

“Most importantly, this momentum will translate into real benefits for our residents, more high-quality jobs, better transport connections, new skills opportunities and thriving communities.”

One of the team’s high points was the launch of the region’s new Investment Prospectus, which showcases a pipeline of investment-ready opportunities across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, and supports the ambition set out in the Local Growth Plan to build a £97.1 billion local economy by 2050.

“The strong level of engagement throughout the event reinforces growing confidence in the region’s long-term vision and highlights the strengths of partnerships helping to deliver it,” insisted the Mayor.

“Through the Local Growth Plan, Team Cambridgeshire is working with government, investors, developers and businesses to unlock opportunity, remove barriers to growth and create the conditions needed to support one of Europe’s leading innovation economies.”
