A Cambridgeshire museum has been recognised with a national tourism accolade for the fourth year in a row.
Bottisham Airfield Museum, on the A1303 between Cambridge and Newmarket, has once again been awarded the prestigious Tripadvisor Travellers’ Choice Award, placing it among the top-rated visitor attractions worldwide based on consistently strong visitor reviews.
Housed in the fully restored 1940 buildings of the former USAAF 375th Fighter Squadron, the museum brings to life the stories and experiences of some of the men and women who served at RAF Bottisham/Station 374 between 1940 and 1946.
Among its extensive collection are a full-size P-51D Mustang and an original Tiger Moth, which form the centrepiece of displays charting the airfield’s role in the Second World War.
The latest accolade comes as the museum prepares for its “Bottisham at War 1940s Weekend”, which will be held on Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 June, from 10am to 4pm each day.
The event will feature wartime battle re‑enactments, 1940s music and dancing, a performance by vintage singer Miss May Blossom, living history displays, military vehicles, vintage traders and the on-site Flying Tractor Café, with free parking for visitors.
Tickets for the 1940s Weekend are available in advance from Eventbrite, with limited tickets also on sale at the main gate on the day.

The museum, in Wilbraham Road, Cambridge CB25 9BU, will be open throughout the weekend, giving visitors the chance to explore the site, view the aircraft and exhibits, and learn more about the vital role Bottisham played during the war.
