Police flew a drone over an industrial estate in Wisbech to try and find suspected thieves.
Working with Cambridgeshire Constabulary's Rural Crime Action Team, the neighbourhood policing team targeted the Boleness Road area.
Together, they used the drone in an effort to locate offenders. However, they used nearby tree cover to hide and store stolen property.
"No offenders were located but our patrols and efforts will continue," confirmed police.
Officers said the search followed six months of the force using a number of different tactics to detect and deter offending.
