Three men were arrested after they were found in the recycling centre in Wisbech at night when it was closed.

Cambridgeshire police say they came across the trio last night (Thursday) while carrying out compliance checks for the closure order in place on land behind the centre.

One of the men was carrying a bag of tools when they were discovered.

All remain in custody while police continue with their enquiries.

Closure orders are in place for two pieces of land close to the recycling centre in Boleness Road until June 28.

Peterborough Magistrates’ Court granted the orders to the land owned by Cadent Gas and also Fosters Development Ltd.

“The land is closed to anyone other than employees of Cadent Gas, employees of Fosters Development Ltd, authorised contractors, staff from Fenland District Council and the emergency services.

“Failure to comply with the order is a criminal offence which could result in imprisonment of up to three months, a fine, or both.”
