Cambridgeshire food reviewer Lucy Melton shares her thoughts on Tap & Tandoor in Peterborough.

I love nothing more than a curry night, so I recently visited Tap & Tandoor in Peterborough again.

It had been a while since I visited and, in the past, it always impressed me but it had never blown me away.

This time, however, I was really impressed! I tried a lot more dishes which gave it more variety for me.

Wisbech Standard: The naan sliders at Tap & Tandoor

We had the naan sliders which are naans loaded with onions, fresh coriander and a mint and coriander chutney as well as your choice of topping.

We had a chicken tikka slider and the paneer slider; both were wonderful but especially the paneer one.

We also had the special naan which was stuffed with cheese, onion and green chilli.

I then had the butter chicken, which was excellent - there was plenty of chicken and sauce. I wish I had ordered some rice for all the sauce, though, as it was really tasty.

We did share the masala fries which were great to dip into the curry at the end.

The salmon tikka came on a sizzling plate and had a good flavour but didn’t wow me.

Finally, the onion bhajis are crispy with a lot of flavour. I would definitely recommend these.

In the past, I had the mixed grill, which was a mountain of meat.

It was excellent but a little spicy for me. I can’t handle any heat!

But if you like spice I would recommend that as a great sharer.

The restaurant itself is always busy and this gives it a great atmosphere and a good buzz.

They also show live sports there and you can book for particular football matches to ensure you can see the screen, which I think is great. They also show other sporting events.

The tap side of things refers to the great choice of beer/ lager on tap and also a variety of ciders.

I had a pineapple cider which suited my sweet tooth well!

I need to start recommending this place more as it is really good, and I can’t wait to go again!
