Hickathrift House care home in Marshland St James recently welcomed the High Sheriff of Cambridgeshire, Dr Bharat, his wife Mrs Khetani and Kim Taylor of ‘Wisbech Tweet.’

On Monday November 13, the High Sheriff and his wife arrived at Hickathrift House and were welcomed by general manager Paula Colman, deputy manager Sarah Sage and activities coordinator Emily Jackson, before being given a grand tour of the home and introduced to all the residents.

Hickathrift’s oldest resident, Norah, said “I really enjoyed meeting him and learning about the High Sheriffs duties today.”

While Joan, another resident said “it was a pleasure to meet such a wonderful couple!”

Included in the tour was an in-depth wonder around the Memory Lane Community exploring the themed sections, sensory areas and newly refurbished snug area as well as the refurbished dining areas, residential community and  facilities within the home.

They enjoyed looking at the activity displays, notice boards, scrapbooks and ‘post a wish’ dreams come true book.

“The residents found great enjoyment in welcoming the lovely High Sheriff and his wife into their home.

“It was an amazing opportunity for the residents to reminisce about the local area of which his duties are carried out.

“We thank them for coming along to visit us and for their very kind words. We look forward to welcoming them again soon.”
