A Wisbech man has been charged with two offences of violent disorder in connection with a protest in central London.

Callum Gibson was held in King's Lynn Police Investigation Centre on Wednesday October 25 after enquiries were carried out by Met Police officers.

The 27-year-old appeared at Norwich Magistrates' Court and has been remanded in custody to appear at Southwark Crown Court on November 23.

One charge relates to violent disorder alleged to have been carried out in Piccadilly Circus on October 14 relating to a protest in central London.

The other relates to an incident alleged to have taken place outside the Honor Oak public house on a date earlier this year during a protest.

A Met spokesperson said: "There is no place for violent crime of any kind in London."
