Spooky season is slowly creeping up on us, and ahead of the October half term, make sure you know some of the best Halloween events happening across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.
From haunted houses, candlelit ghost walks, and an outdoor Halloween music festival, here is a list of some of the scariest and most fun events to go to leading up to October 31.
Horror at Hinchingbrooke House - Huntingdon
For the brave scare-seekers, Cambridgeshire's award-winning and interactive realistic horror experience is the perfect place for a fright.
Located in the famous haunted grounds and house in Huntingdon, the maze is back again from October 21-28 with brand-new scare rooms to enjoy.
There are 16 new sets and more than 90 actors dressed as some of the most famous characters from the horror genre chasing you in groups of 6-8 around the labyrinth in darkness.

Candlelit Ghost Walks - The Cromwell Museum and St Neots Museum
For a spooky look at Huntingdon's heritage, the museum's Candlelit tours of the Town hall and its historic courtrooms are on Tuesday, October 24, at 6pm, 7pm and 8pm.

Then, on October 31, starting from St Neots Museum at 7.30pm, the haunted buildings, ghostly secrets and spooky stories of St Neots will be told on their ghost walks, lasting approximately 90 minutes.

Zombie Fest 7: Day of the Dead - Cambridge
This over-18s event is converging in HI: Cambridge, Impington on Saturday, October 28, for an expansive, fully immersive Halloween-themed music event.
This is the first time the event has graced Cambridge, having previously been held in the Suffolk countryside.
Zombie Fest will move from an all-night event to an afternoon and evening extravaganza, starting at 12pm and continuing until midnight, catering to the preferred choice of raving times in 2023 for all the busy zombies.

Zombie-themed sessions at Rumble Live - Grafham Water
The Halloween-themed missions, which are suitable for children and adult players alike, are returning this half term on Friday, October 27 - Sunday, October 29.
The live-action gaming arena offers outdoor laser tag with state-of-the-art equipment, with contestants now able to play four different non-Halloween missions in their one-hour slot, including head-to-head team battles and the ever-popular sniper games.

Halloween: Light or Fright - Peterborough Cathedral

This free, family event will take place in the Peterborough Cathedral on October 28 from 11am-3pm and take you on a journey from darkness to light.
Children will make bat hats and creepy cats before moving through a series of activities and a fun trail around the cathedral, culminating in the creation of luminaries.

Halloween Punting - Cambridge
The Traditional Punting Company on Thompsons Lane are hosting Halloween Scavenger hunts from October 21-31.
Families can have a "spooktastic experience" in the historic centre of Cambridge, learning about the ghosts and ghouls that roam the river and cobbled streets.
Fancy dress is encouraged, and the hunt consists of a series of questions; some take place on the river as part of your punting tour, and the rest take place around the city, with a sweet treat at the end.

Farm Fright Night - Snakehall Farm
The Prospects Trust is hosting its legendary Farm Fright Night in the dark fields of Snakehall Farm on Swaffham Road in Reach on Friday, October 27.
The event starts at 6.30pm and will feature a hair-raising self-guided scare tour around the 18-acre field, with the farm being overrun with demonic snakes this year.

Thomas the Tank Engine's Trick-or-Treat party - Peterborough
Nene Valley Railway is calling on all little ghosts, ghouls, witches, wizards, monsters and spooky characters to meet Thomas the Tank Engine for a Trick or Treat Party on October 25
Upon arrival at Wansford station, all children over the age of 1 will collect a trick-or-treat bag, explore the station and participate in some Halloween-themed activities, where they will collect some wonderful tricks and treats.
Then, on October 31, Thomas will be back for a special ghost train ride from Wansford to Peterborough and back for a spooky train ride where each child will be able to visit the different Trick or Treat Stations that have been set up around the platform to collect their candy treats.

Halloween Kid's Disco - Ely
An optional fancy dress Halloween kids disco is taking place in the Maltings on Thursday, October 26, and children aged between 3-12 are all invited to come.
Hosted by Terry and Michelle Gauci, the disco promises to be a scary, fun time with age-appropriate music and refreshments available.
