A Wisbech school has issued a statement after a boy carrying a knife was detained by staff.
Police were called by a member of staff at Thomas Clarkson Academy who reported the incident at 11.47am yesterday.
A police spokesperson said: "It is believed the child was in a mental health crisis and has been taken into hospital."
Richard Scott, principal of Thomas Clarkson Academy, said: “The safety and wellbeing of everyone at the school is our highest priority and we have strict and clear protocols in place to address these types of incidents, however rare they might be.
“While we cannot comment on the specific details due to the police’s involvement and other sensitivities, our staff acted immediately and diligently as soon as concerns were brought to our attention.”
