Nine new homes could be built in a village near Wisbech.

A developer named in council papers as Ms D Bullard has applied for outline permission to build on land off Needham Bank at Friday Bridge.

A planning statement says: "The site is currently used for agriculture.

"The proposed development is for the construction of nine two-storey detached residential dwellings with associated parking and gardens, and an access roadway to the land at the rear."

It adds there is "ample space" for parking and gardens on the site.

Neighbouring properties are of "traditional construction and appearance" and the statement says: "It is envisaged the proposed dwellings will also be of a similar style."

A biodiversity survey says the site is within 5m of a ditch.

But there are "unlikely" to be great crested newts or voles present because the field and its margins have been sprayed with "insecticides, fungicides, herbicides and more".

Plans show hedgehog boards would be installed in fences, while properties would have nesting boxes for sparrows, swifts and bats.
