The WisBeach Rock Festival in the town’s park on Sunday, August 6, was once again a huge success, say organisers.

The main stage performers were: The Stereotypes, Conor White, After Hours Band, The Brink, CD Deeds. Supporting acts to the legendary Drifters were Wild Boys and Platinum Queen.

Performing on the local stage at the bandstand was home-grown talent with Roy McManus, Songbird and the Crow, Swat we Do, Lizzie Bryant, Purple Angels, Joe Tierney and Little Jay Fox.

Activities included a giant sandpit with deck chairs, fair rides, crazy golf, donkey rides, a splash zone, climbing wall, cave experience, and a steel drummer.

Other entertainment was provided by live poetry readings, including the Fenland Poet Laureate Sami SE Tite and Elisabeth Sennitt Clough, among others.

African drummers held workshops to teach people how to play the bongos, which was enjoyed by all ages.

The event was organised by Wisbech Town Council and Cllr Samantha Hoy, the festival's committee chair, said afterwards: “Well what a day!

"Can I please start by thanking all the bands, solo artists, poets, comperes and performers – you all put your hearts and souls into your performances, and you rocked.”

She also thanked the many volunteers who helped ensure the festival ran smoothly by acting as stewards as well as helping with setting up and others who were involved in the technical side.

This included the organisation Remarkable Entertainment for arranging the acts, and the police looking after public safety.

Cllr Hoy added: “Thank you all so much. It was a long day and I know you’re all exhausted but just wow… another successful event polished off.

“Finally thank you to you all for coming and keeping it another good-spirited, safe event. How do top it next year?”
