Students and staff at the College of West Anglia's Cambridge, Wisbech and King's Lynn campuses came together to celebrate Pride Month.
Pride takes place every June and celebrates LGBTQ+ people and communities. Pride commemorates the Stonewall riots that took place in June 1969 in New York.
Pride Month represents an opportunity for the CWA community to reflect on all the ways they can contribute to creating a welcoming, supportive, and inclusive environment for all LGBTQ+ students and staff.
The week, a variety of events were held at our Cambridge, Wisbech and King’s Lynn campuses.
Activities included badge making, jumbo board games, painting live music and even an egg and spoon race.
Dace from Norfolk LGBT+ Project said: “We are always so pleased to be invited to the College of West Anglia for their incredible Pride events.
“It is really encouraging to see so many young people being themselves, showing their pride and supporting one another with love.”
David Pomfret, CWA principal, said: “It is fantastic to see so many people engaging in pride celebrations which highlight what an inclusive place the College of West Anglia is.”
Abi Souter, who studies hair and media make-up at CWA King’s Lynn campus, said: “I think the face painting has been very helpful for people to express themselves.”
Clare Pelling, learning and experience manager at CWA, said: “It has been amazing to see so many of our students come together as part of a college community across all of our campuses this past week to celebrate Pride.”
