A couple who took on their first-ever pub just 12 months ago will mark the anniversary by opening a second premises in the neighbouring village.

Mike and Lisa Daisley, aged 43 and 40 respectively, took over the freehold of The Wildfowler pub in Terrington St Clement, on the outskirts of King's Lynn, in June 2022.

The pair introduced food there, including a tasty brunch menu, and gave it a modern rebrand and refurbishment.

Speaking about the name change, Mr Daisley said: "Local people remember the pub as The Victory and while it has moved on since then we wanted some nostalgia linking to that so decided on The Nelson."

The pub reopens this Saturday, May 27 from midday and there will be a special food offering for the opening weekend, but the regular menu will have a "street food vibe", including burgers, fish and chips and seafood dishes using local produce.

Mr Daisley, whose sister-in-law Gwyneth is also a partner in both pubs, added: "There has been a lot of anticipation on this opening and people in the village told us they needed their community hub back.

"We wanted to base it on roughly the same model as The Wildfowler as it has been a real success."
