Excitement was in the air at Hickathrfit House in Marshland St James where residents and staff celebrated the King's coronation by making decorations and testing their royal knowledge.

Over the bank holiday weekend, the home held a grand royal party with live entertainment by KJ & the Catt, as well as a scrumptious dining experience provided by head chef, Kerry Harvey.

Everyone came together to celebrate the new King and talk about the new era the country is entering.

Paula Colman, general manager at Hicakthrfit House said: “We’ve all had such a brilliant time celebrating the coronation, such a momentous occasion.

"Our staff and residents love the royals and so they were all so excited to take part.

"It has been a real collaborative process - thinking about how we wanted to celebrate, planning our activities, decorating the home and creating all the party food. It was so lovely to be able to invite our friends and family and community guests to come and join us for a proper celebration too.”

Betty, a resident at Hickathrift House said: “I can just about remember the Queen’s Coronation, my school hosted a party and I was the bride and my school friends were dressed in red, white and blue bridesmaid dresses.

"We won a local competition and it was just beautiful. I’m so glad these activities at Hickathrift have sparked these lovely memories and now I’ve made wonderful memories for the King’s coronation”.
