A high street clothing chain has confirmed it will close its Wisbech store.

New Look is due to shut its branch in The Horsefair this June after staff were told about the news at a meeting on March 14.

A spokesperson for New Look said: “Our store in Wisbech is set to close on June 20.

“We are supporting our colleagues from the Wisbech store and where possible finding alternative roles for them in the business.”

The spokesperson added that New Look would “like to thank all of our customers and colleagues for their support during our time in the town.”

A representative of the New Look store in Wisbech declined to comment.

Earlier this year, New Look announced they would be closing some of its other UK stores including in Birmingham, Coventry and Walthamstow, London in January and February.

Last month, the company said there were several reasons for the closures, including the expiry of store leases and New Look considering alternative sites.

But the fashion retailer said it was planning to open more stores this year.

As of March 2022, New Look had 440 stores in the UK and the Republic of Ireland and around 10,000 staff members.
