Families with children are invited to plunge into The Deep at the Wisbech and Fenland Museum on Wednesday, February 15.

The museum is re-opening from its post-Christmas spring-clean break with a free event from 10.30am to 2.30pm that aims to repeat the huge success of a similar event, which was called, After Dark, held last half-term.

Learning and community participation officer Louise Haselgrove said: “This time the adventure is to learn about sea creatures past and present and to handle fossils from oceans millions of years back, with plenty of fun craft activities laid on.

“It's free of charge because we're keen for all local children to feel they can come and explore their very own Museum. It's here for the community. At the same time we also welcome any donations.”

Visitors on the day will be the first to be directed to the museum's new entrance at ground level opposite the main entrance to St Peter's Church.

From February 15, the museum will be open four days a week, from 10am to 4pm.
