Hickathrift House care home in Marshland St James got in the Christmas spirit in a visit to cinema to see the Royal Opera Ballet: The Nutcracker.

On December 11, residents and staff of the home were joined by their local Marshland St James Book Club on a trip to the Wisbech Luxe Cinema.

Over the year, the care home has been building a relationship with the book club with residents attending the club’s monthly meetings.

Elsie, a resident at Hickathrift House Care Home and regular book club attendee said: “We have all had the most wonderful time seeing the Nutcracker from the Royal Opera House.

“How lovely to be able to see this ballet for the first time at the age of 95 with all my new friends. The outing has made us all feel so Christmassy!”

General Manager, Paula Colman said: “It has been a fantastic day and made even more special with the local book club joining us. We’ve all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.”
