A stretch of the A47 on the outskirts of Wisbech has now reopened following a collision involving four cars and a HGV. 

A four mile stretch of the busy road between Guyhirn Roundabout and Thorney Toll was closed while emergency services attended the incident this morning (Friday).

Medics from the East of England Ambulance Service assessed five patients at the scene. 

A spokesperson said one person was taken to Peterborough City Hospital. 

Police officers later released images of two vehicles recovered from the incident. 

A spokesperson for Cambridgeshire Police said: “We were called at 10.08am today (December 2) with reports of a collision on the A47 between Guyhirn and Thorney Toll.  

“The collision, which involved four cars and a HGV, blocked the road."

Drivers were being advised to avoid the area and find an alternative route for their journey.
