Fenland District Council’s much-loved Golden Age Fair, which offers support and guidance to those aged over 60, will return to Wisbech on December 14.

The event will be free to the public and is set to be held at the Rosmini Centre on Queens Road, Wisbech between 10am and 1pm.

Wisbech Standard:

This year’s event will be the first-ever International Christmas Golden Age Fair, with the Rosmini Centre able to offer information, advice and support in a range of languages, including English, Lithuanian, Russian, Romanian, Latvian, Bulgarian and Polish.

Held quarterly at locations across the region, Fenland District Council’s Golden Age Fairs are a popular event dedicated to helping people find out what benefits and services they are entitled to.

There will be partner agencies offering a range of information, advice and guidance on health, safety and wellbeing as well as a little bit of festive cheer with carol singers from Elm Road primary school.

A pop-up vaccination clinic will also be available at the event, offering eligible residents the chance to get their winter flu and COVID-19 vaccinations while they enjoy the fair.

Visitors will each receive a free canvas shopping bag filled with goodies, while tea, coffee, biscuits and mince pies will all also be provided free of charge.

Cllr Sam Clark, Fenland District Council's portfolio holder responsible for health and leisure and the Golden Age team leader, said: “These events are always a fantastic experience and a great way to raise awareness of the local and national organisations that operate in our area, as well as the guidance and support they can offer to older people.”

“We are absolutely delighted that the Rosmini Centre will be the venue for this first ever International Christmas Golden Age Fair and we look forward to welcoming more members of the local community than ever before!”

A wide range of organisations are expected at the event, with partners from previous events including Age UK, Cam Sight, FACT, Citizens Advice Bureau, Wisbech Community Farm, The Bobby Scheme, Careline, Living Sport, Healthy You, Neighbourhood Watch and many more.
