A burglar who stole two televisions and a games console was caught out thanks to a quick-thinking neighbour.
Mark Colman was seen forcing his way into a home in Lime Avenue, Wisbech on May 31 when the neighbour alerted the homeowner.
Police were called to find Colman had already left.
The intruder had taken two 49” wall-mounted televisions, an Xbox One games console, a DVD rack containing around 30 Xbox games and a red circular wood saw.
Colman, 23, also forced through a window of a Volkswagen camper van that was on the driveway.
Video doorbell footage was reviewed and neighbourhood policing officers recognised the suspect as Colman, who was found nearby and after a foot chase, was arrested.
Colman, of Westfield Road, Manea, had denied charges of burglary and theft from a motor vehicle.
He was set for trial at Peterborough Crown Court on November 8, but changed his plea and was sentenced to 621 days in prison.
Detective Constable Stefan Karanja, who investigated, said: “This was a great response by the local neighbourhood policing team who were in the area and were able to act quickly, resulting in Colman being apprehended not far from the scene.”
