FENLAND road safety campaigner Graham Chappell is finalising plans ahead of a long awaited meeting with the Roads Minister on Thursday.
Mr Chappell met with Andy Walker, whose nine-year-old daughter, Charlotte, died in the Sixteen Foot Drain after the car she was travelling in went into the icy water in February 2008. Mr Walker will also be at the meeting with Mike Penning MP.
The two met at Mr Walker’s local pub, the Lamb and Flag at Welney, to organise a presentation cheque for 5,000. It will be offered to Cambridgeshire County Council leaders as the campaign’s contribution towards the cost of targeted safety barrier installation at Bedlam Bridge on the Sixteen Foot Bank.
MP Steve Barclay will also be at the meeting along with Alan Kinninmonth of Wimblington whose courage and quick thinking helped save the lives of two children involved in an accident at Bedlam Bridge in May 2007.
