SO councillor David Wheeler states on Page 3 of the Wisbech Standard (February 25) that “No-one has the right to stop anyone from using what is a community facility”.
It is a pity that ‘He’ was not of this frame of mind when ‘He’ proposed the giving away of a large area of Community Public Open Space (Waterlees Field) for the adventure playground and in spite of residents grave concerns. Not only has he taken away people’s freedom of choice in how they wish to utilise the field but the area of open space available for use has been greatly reduced (especially so for those exercising their dogs and for what was relative ease of access to the field for people with reduced mobility). A case of double standards or just a case of Not In My (housing association) Back Yard.
One of the 148 Residents that signed ‘AGAINST’ the playground.
