PARALYMPIC hero Jody Cundy has won his 10th world title after picking up two golds and a silver at the world championships.
Cundy began the championships, held from Friday to Sunday in Montichiari, Italy, by claiming a stunning silver medal on his 4km pursuit debut.
The Walpole St Andrew star followed that up by winning gold in the 1km Time Trial (kilo) - smashing the world record in the process with a time of 1:05.144.
And Cundy sealed his most successful championships since his switch from swimming to cycling by joining Great Britain team-mates Darren Kenny and Terry Byrne to take gold in the Team Sprint with another world record.
The delighted 32-year-old said: “I didn’t know how much the pursuit had taken out of me but it all turned out well in the end.”
Blogging after his success in the kilo, Cundy wrote: “World Champion, Jody Cundy (GBR) 1:05.144 New WR! Seems like a good way to start a post!
“I settled into my ride pretty quickly as I tried to get the bike up to speed and accelerate hard. It was a strange sensation as it was the complete opposite of what I was trying to achieve the previous day.
“Two laps in and I could finally feel the effects of the pursuit but I could also feel the effects of all the pursuit training I’d done and that helped me spin my legs smoothly through to the finish.
“I crossed the line to a huge cheer from the crowd and it wasn’t until I came round the bend that I could see my time and start celebrating.”
