AN INQUEST opens today into the death of a man who was discovered in a Fenland ditch.
The body of John Thomas Nicholson, 91, of Bramley House, Panswell Lane, Leverington, was discovered at Barretts Bridge - at the junction of Panswell Lane and Leverington Common - on Wednesday morning.
An inquest into his death will be opened today at 2pm by North and East Cambridgeshire coroner William Morris.
Cause of death was drowning and hypertensive heart disease.
Mr Nicholson’s body was discovered by a member of the public at about 7.50am who reported it to police. The B1169 Leverington Common was closed for several hours as a result.
