FENLAND employees of Cambridgeshire County Council have been rewarded for their long service at a special ceremony at Shire Hall.

Seven members of staff were presented with Long Service Awards after each completing 25 years or more with the authority.

They were joined by a further 15 long-serving members of staff from other parts of the county, who were presented with their awards by County Council Chairman Linda Oliver, Executive Director of Children and Young People’s Services Adrian Loades, and Director for Strategy and Commissioning in Adult Social Care, Clare Bruin.

Among the recipients was Jan Clark, who retired from her full-time teaching post in 2009 after 37 years’ service, but continues to work as a supply teacher at Burrowmoor School in March – the same school she attended as a child.

Linda Cox has worked as a first aider and administrative assistant at Cromwell Community College in Chatteris for over 27 years, while Jane Doncaster has clocked up 25 years with her work as a senior support worker for adults with learning disabilities in March.

Jane Pickering has completed 25 years as a supervisor at March Library, while Hilary Roberts, assistant principal at Cromwell Community College in Chatteris, is celebrating more than 28 years with the authority.

Mandy Symonds, who works for Cambridgeshire Catering and Cleaning Services at Hereward Hall in March, has completed 25 years’ service, while John Wilson - who taught at several schools across the county, including a stint as deputy headteacher at Alderman Jacobs School in Whittlesey - retired in 2008 after 27 years.

Council Chairman Linda Oliver said: “Everyone receiving awards did so because of the outstanding contribution they have made to Cambridgeshire County Council and the many services it provides. I am delighted their loyal service and dedication has been recognised and I am very pleased to be a part of that. Congratulations to them all.”
