A PILOT who died when his light aircraft crashed in Cambridgeshire has been named by police.
Clive Greenaway’s plane came down at Sibson Airfield, near Peterborough, just after 2pm on Friday. The 52-year-old from Stratford-upon-Avon had flown from Long Marston Airfield in Warwickshire.
Police said that the plane flew into an overhead electricity pylon before crashing. Mr Greenaway was the only passenger on board the flight.
Both carriageways of a section of the A1 were closed for 24 hours while power lines hit by the light aircraft were repaired.
The Highways Agency set up a diversion via the A47, A1260, and the A1139, for north and southbound traffic.
The Air Accident Investigation Branch are continuing their investigations at the scene and recovery of the aircraft has taken place.
