A NEW service aimed at helping young people understand the impact that alcohol can have on their education or job prospects is being launched next week.
A series of “Worksense” sessions will be held at Community House in Wisbech, starting on Monday, 3-5pm, with others to follow on November 21, December 12 and December 19. They are then expected to resume on January 9.
They will offer young people aged 16-24 confidential, one-to-one sessions as well as the chance to join in group activities.
The service is the result of a partnership between Fenland District Council and Drinksense, supported by Roddons Housing Association. It is particularly aimed at helping young people who are currently not in education, employment or training.
One teenager who has worked with Drinksense on this scheme said: “Once I stopped drinking and getting into trouble, it was easier to sort out what I wanted to do.”
