STUNNING aerial photographs of Fenland are included in ‘A Day Above Cambridgeshire’ - and we’ve got one copy of the book to give away.

The book captures the views that would have been by Spitfire pilots as they flew across the county and includes a photograph showing 16 Spitfires as they flew over Duxford in formation at 2010’s air show.

The 96-page book was launched on Armistice Day to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Supermarine Spitfire which first flew in 1937 and was based at the Royal Air Force base in Duxford.

Carolyn Grace, the world’s only female Spitfire display pilot, wrote the foreward for the ‘coffee table’ book, which shows images of Cambridgeshire landscapes from the sky during dawn, morning, noon, afternoon and evening.

Authors Angela Wild, Richard Hall, Robert Pusey, and William and John Nowell are all third-year students at the University Centre in Peterborough.

They published the book as part of their final university assignments and have included brief but well-informed text to accompany the high-definition imagery.

Peter Rook, senior lecturer for Creative Publishing at the university, a campus of Cambridge’s Anglia Ruskin University, said: “This is a magnificent achievement.

“For five students to combine their obvious talents and work as a close-knit team with only 12 weeks to design, research, photograph, write and market a coffee table book such as this is an outstanding success.”
