THOUSANDS of visitors are set to flock to the little Cambridgeshire village of Thriplow for its Daffodil Weekend.
Organisers of this year’s “celebration of spring” are expecting up to 10,000 visitors from the across the UK when the event starts at 11am on Saturday (March 17).
This year’s weekend is set to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Year with a swathe of ‘Orange Queen’ daffodils planted in November.
Despite fears that some daffodil growers might lose 10 per cent of their crop, organisers say: “Our daffodils are peaking at just the right time.
“The new variety will complement the many other daffodils that already provide a stunning backdrop to the weekend.”
This year’s event will raise money for Tom’s Trust, which helps the treatment and rehabilitation of children with brain tumours at Addenbrooke’s Hospital.
Tickets cost 5 for adults and 2.50 for children.
