YOUNGSTERS jump for joy after raising more than 2,700 for Cancer Research UK... by dancing in their pyjamas.
When Sarah White decided to get her pupils to attend a week’s dance classes in their nightwear, she had hoped to raise 400.
But after sponsorship money flooded in for all the young members of Sarah’s Street Style Dance School, in March, the final total reached a staggering 2,716.87.
Mrs White said: “I originally thought we might get about 400 so everyone has done so well with their sponsors.”
Emily Ford, Area Volunteer Manager for Cancer Research UK, said: “Sarah and her team have done fantastically well.
“It is so inspiring for the community to see someone who really wants to help make a difference and increase awareness for us.
“Cancer Research UK receives no government funding for our research, the majority of our money comes from amazing people who fundraise for us, so we really do need all the help we can get, and every penny counts.
“For every 1 we receive, 80p goes directly back into our work to beat cancer.”
The dance school runs classes on weekdays at Neale-Wade Community College, except on Thursdays when classes are held at March Braza.
