YOUNGSTERS staged one of Fenland’s most youthful derbies on Saturday as Wisbech St Mary held their Girls Under-9s Football Festival.
A team from Burrowmoor Primary School, in March, took on their rivals from Wisbech St Mary in the pick of the fixtures.
Teams from Bluntisham and St Ives also competed in the tournament, which was held at the village’s sports and community centre.
Wisbech St Mary’s secretary Martin Holmes said he hoped the festival would encourage the girls to play league football in the future.
