ABOUT 30 horses are stranded on flooded washland at Ring’s End.
The RSPCA was alerted to the plight of the horses by an anonymous complaint this morning, prompting an inspector to visit the washland.
The animal welfare charity said the horses are in good condition and has pledged to ensure their wellbeing.
A spokesman for the RSPCA said: “Our inspector received an anonymous complaint this morning and has been out there today.
“He said that, while the horses have been isolated by the floods, they are in good physical condition and have got access to fresh water and free grazing. “They are not in immanent danger.
“The water is beginning to drain and the horses should be less isolated very shortly.
“We will carry on monitoring them and if needed will bring them supplementary food.”
The RSPCA has appealed for anyone with information about the horses to contact 0300 123 4999
