STEPPING into the ring with world title hopeful Kell Brook would be the stuff of nightmares for most boxers.

But it has been a dream for Chatteris ace Jordan Gill, who insists that sparring with Brook has been the perfect preparation for his fourth professional bout tomorrow.

The unbeaten 18-year-old has been one of Brook’s main sparring partners ahead of his IBF welterweight world title clash with Devon Alexander in Detroit this month.

Gill has his own showdown against journeyman Sid Razak at the Peterborough Arena tomorrow night... and he is promising fireworks.

“It’s going to be a masterclass,” he said. “I really want to put on a show for the fans close to home.

“I’ve done all my sharpening up this week and I feel good. Everything has gone to plan and I’ve done a lot of sparring with Kell.

“I will always be able to say that I’ve been a sparring partner for a world title fight. I just have to make sure I move quickly because he can punch!

“I learn a lot from him. He’s world class and a great role model. The preparation for his fight is unbelievable. I’ve never even dreamed of the things they have been doing.

“It’s a pleasure to watch and be involved in. It’s great experience for when it’s my turn.”

Hundreds of fans from the Fens will cheer Gill over the course of four three-minute rounds tomorrow - and the teenager is expecting a challenge from Razak.

“He’s caused a few upsets and had 108 fights so he’s experienced,” said Gill. “He will come for a fight but I’m just going to outbox and outmanoeuvre him.

“I want to try and increase my following with this fight. When it comes to title fights at the age of 20, I want to have the following to back them up.”

Gill will have no time to reflect on tomorrow’s bout as he is due to fly back to Fuerteventura to continue working with Brook on Sunday morning.

The Ingle Gym talent, who thanked sponsor Les Connett of Connett Cable, Chatteris, hopes to contest his fifth pro bout in April.
