A WHITTLESEY boxer is in line for a British title bout if he gets through his contest tomorrow.
Middleweight Jake ‘the snake’ Dyer, 28, has been told by his manager Carl Greaves he will be in contention for a British Masters Bronze super-middleweight title fight next season – if he extends his winning run at the Peterborough Arena.
Former soldier Dyer said: “I’m really happy. I had a terrible year when I only boxed once and now it looks like I’m going to get a title fight.
“I’ve turned my career around. I started off losing and drawing fights and now I’m winning. I’ve definitely improved and having a few weeks’ notice for fights definitely helps.”
Dyer decisively beat Didier Blanch on points last month, a performance that’s convinced Greaves the former March amateur is ready to step up to championship level.
Greaves said: “Jake is a fit lad with a massive heart. He will fight all day long.”
