THE Union Jack will be flying proudly atop Ely Cathedral this week to celebrate the arrival of the royal baby.
His Royal Highness, the Prince of Cambridge, was born at St Mary’s Hospital in London on Monday amid worldwide fanfare.
To celebrate the occasions, the Ship of the Fens, is flying the Union Jack from the top of the West Tower and bunting has been erected around the inside of the 11th century building to welcome those who wish to come and give thanks or offer a prayer for the baby.
There is a commemorative book for visitors to sign to mark the occasion and record their messages of good will and congratulations. The book will be sent to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge at Kensington Palace.
The chapter will also include the national anthem as part of the evensong services and prayers of thanks said at services in the cathedral over the next few days.
