THE Gables Girls - staff and volunteers from The Gables at Eastrea - got in a lather on Saturday as they cleaned cars to raise more than £200 for the residents’ entertainment fund.
Senior care assistant at the nursing and residential home, Polly Noble, came up with fund raising idea, and persuaded about 10 others to lend a hand during the four hour cleaning session.
Manager Henry Mutambo said: “I was delighted that staff and volunteers went out of their way to extend their care for the residents, by spending their free time to raise this money.
“It was a really good event, and we want to thank the local community, especially the farming community who allowed us to use their yard for staff a relatives parking, to free up our site for the car wash.”
The money raised will be used to provide entertainment and trips for residents.
Henry added: “The residents really enjoyed watching the cars being cleaned and seeing members of the community supporting our fund raising event.”
