A DISABLED woman whose bungalow was destroyed in an arson attack has made an impassioned plea for help.
Debbie Scott, 54, does not even have a bed to sleep on after her bungalow in Chapel Gardens, Benwick, was ravaged by fire last Thursday.
A 15-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of arson with intention to endanger life. He has been bailed until September 19.
Ms Scott has been re-housed by Roddons in Wisbech but it could be up to eight months before she is allowed to move back into her home.
She said: “I returned to the bungalow and the roof has caved in. Everything has melted. There’s not even a chair left to sit on.
“I’m just lucky I was not in bed at the time because I would not have been able to escape.
“I’ve stayed in Guyhirn with a friend since Thursday. Roddons have provided a van and we’ve taken away as much as we could, although a lot of my possessions have been destroyed by the fire.
“I’m just lucky I’ve got somewhere to go.”
As well as a bed, Debbie is in desperate need of a fridge/freezer, cooker, tumble dryer and living room chair.
