Popular local rock’n’roll band Rock Island Rebels have decided to hang up their instruments after 22 years on the road, and will play their final gig at Hiam Sports and Social Club on Saturday November 23.
The band was formed in 1991 by lead singer Mark Steadman and lead guitarist Charlie Heber-Hall.
The rest of the line-up has changed over the years, but the current drummer, Rod Norman, and bass guitarist, Dale Brooks, have been with the band for the past seven or eight years.
The band’s authentic renditions of 50s and 60s music and fantastic harmonies have gained them many loyal fans on the circuit and they have become one of the most popular bands to play at Hiam.
Mike Fortey from the club said: “It will be a sad night for rock’n’roll, but we hope to give them a massive send off - so don’t be late if you want the best seats.
“Along with the club price bar and large dance floor, there will be a barbecue going most of the evening at reasonable cost so we have all the ingredients for a good night out.”
Admission is £5.50 for members and £7.50 for guests and the doors will be open at 7pm.
Any enquiries call Mike on 01638 601085.
