Wisbech produced an impressive comeback to draw 4-4 with high-flying Chelmsford on Saturday.
The hosts battled back from 4-2 down to end an 11 game losing streak which stretched back to the beginning of October.
The crucial point sees the edge a point clear of relegation rivals Ramgarhia and three points ahead of basement side Norwich in Premier A.
Captain Jonathan Shippey said: “It was a brilliant game, which we could have won. We dominated the first and last 15 minutes but could not get a winner.
“Chelmsford beat us 8-1 at their place, so maybe they turned up expecting quite an easy game.
“We showed a lot of character, especially fighting back from 4-2 down. In our previous games we played well in patches but here we played well as a team for most of the game. It is a massive confidence boost.”
Wisbech started the game strongly and created early chances but Chelmsford took the lead.
But the hosts responded through Ed Batt, who scored a fine solo goal from right back, marauding around the periphery of the Chelmsford defence, along the baseline and slipping a reverse stick shot through the keeper’s legs.
Wisbech pushed for more goals, but Chelmsford took the lead again with a deflected shot past keeper Tom Peggs.
Wisbech’s second equaliser came from Brad Apted, who beat the keeper with a fine dummy and slipped the ball into the net with his reverse side.
Chelmsford struck twice early in the second half but the hosts dug deep and Apted scythed a reverse stick tomahawk from a near impossible angle into the far side netting.
With rain and hail lashing down on Harecroft Road, Sam Blunt played a one two with Apted and finished with aplomb to bring the scores level.
Wisbech launched a siege on the Chelmsford goal and hit the post three times but they could not snatch a dramatic winner.
Shippey is confident his side can build on the Chelmsford comeback when they travel to Wapping, who won 4-0 when the two sides met earlier this season, on Saturday.
He said: “Wapping are a good side but if we take our last performance into the game and get into them straight away you never know what will happen.”
