More than 100 students took part in their first concert in front of a sell out crowd on Wednesday.
Pupils from all years at Cromwell Community College in Chatteris were involved in the memorable show, which was directed by head of music Corinna Holdaway.
The concert opened with a roof raising rendition of ‘Do You Hear The People Sing’ from Les Miserables performed by the school choir, Year 7 students, Year 7 drummers and a small orchestral ensemble.
After the opening of the show, the students made their way off stage leaving just one girl, Year 9 Student Holly Orridge, to perform her solo piece ‘On My Own’ (also from Les Miserables).
The GCSE music student’s singing was described as emotive by many spectators and brought a tear to many eyes.
The school orchestra then took to the stage and performed three songs including ‘Can You Feel the Love Tonight?’ from The Lion King.
One of the highlights of the evening was the ‘Wicked’ witches who sang songs from the musical of the same name.
They were completely covered in green make up which had been done by students studying hair and beauty.
Two male students added a special edge to the show with their very different performances.
Sam Perry gave a haunting rendition of an Andrew Lloyd Webber song from ‘Love Never Dies’, with Jovan Sahota giving his own interpretation of ‘Lose Yourself’ from Eminem’s 8 Mile.
A fun and energetic Blues Brothers finale finished the evening on a high.
