Hundreds of students who attend Neale-Wade Academy, March, will get the day off tomorrow (Thu) because of a one day strike by teachers.
Principal Jason Wing told parents by email: “Following a decision by the NUT (National Union of Teachers), Unite, Unison and GMB unions to take industrial action in schools, I am writing to inform you that the academy will be closed to pupils on Thursday July 10.”
He said: “This is not a decision I have taken lightly. Given the significant number of colleagues who will be taking industrial action on that day, I would be unable to ensure the health and safety of the pupils on the academy site.”
Mr Wing added: “I apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
Public sector workers are striking over pay and conditions.
