Chatteris mum Rebecca Andrews went under the clippers on Saturday night to shed her locks for charity.
The mum of four decided to have her headshaved to help two charities: Magpas Helimedix and the Little Princess Trust.
Long-term friend and hairdresser Rachel Fearing wielded the scissors and clippers at the headshave event held at the Honest John pub in South Park Street.
Ms Andrews explained: “I haven’t had my haircut for about 10 years and my partner and I are both bikers, which meant everytime I took my helmet off my hair looked as if I had stuck my finger in a plug socket. I decided it was time for a change and it was all or nothing, which is why I decided to have my headshaved for charity.
“I chose Magpas because they tried to help a biker friend of mine who sadly died, and I didn’t want my hair to go to waste so I chose to donate it to the Little Princess Trust, which makes real-hair wigs, free of charge for girls and boys who have lost their hair through cancer treatment and other illnesses.”
The headshave started with Ms Andrew’s 18-inch plait being cut off, and culminated in her having a closed crop haircut.
So far her efforts have raised £800 for Magpas, but more sponsorship is still being collected.
“Human life is so precious, any one of us could get injured, this is such a good charity, you just never know when you might need their help. My daughter has really beautiful, long blonde hair and I know how awful it would be for her to lose her hair,” said Ms Andrews.
Pub landlord said: “It was a generous thing for Rebecca to do and a great way to help two wonderful charities at the same time”
