Members of the Wisbech Branch, Royal Anglian Regiment-Cambridgeshire gathered at St Augustine’s Church, Wisbech on Sunday for the Cambridgeshire Regiment Annual Service.
The Mayor of Wisbech and other dignitaries joined the service which was conducted by Rev Neil Gardner.
The Branch Standard was joined by Standards from the Royal British legion and the Royal Air Force Association.
Army Cadets from Wisbech Detachment, wearing the “Cambridgeshire Flash” on their uniform joined the service to show their respect for the men of the Cambridgeshire Regiment.
The Annual Service remembers the Cambridgeshire Regiment and its contribution in WW1 and WW2. Figures show 865 were killed and 3299 were wounded in WW1.
In WW2 the Cambridgeshire Regiment saw action in Singapore and Malaya with over 700 killed in action or died as a prisoner of war in Japanese Camps.
Major (Retired) David Bailey, Branch Chairman said: “It was a well supported Annual Service and its continued support will ensure the men of the Cambridgeshire Regiment are not forgotten”
