A carpenter’s work will be featured on an ITV daytime interior design show next week.
Andrew Bridgefoot was asked to carve four pieces for Peter Andre’s 60 Minute Makeover, which features surprise home makeovers for deserving home-owners around the country. The episode will be broadcast on Tuesday at 2pm.
He designed four candle holders - one for a mother and the other three for her triplets.
Mr Bridgefoot, who has more than 20 years in the trade, was born in Wisbech but is now based in Dersingham where he works out of a shepherd’s hut he built himself.
He said: “It was suggested to me to apply to 60 Minute Makeover as they wanted artisan craftsmen.
“To my surprise I got accepted and they came to my house to film me.
“They were there for over six hours and I made four hand carved oak items for the show.
“The woman was trying for a baby then had IVF and ended up with triplets.
“This (being accepted for the show) prompted me to make a website which is slowly gaining business.”
One of Mr Bridgefoot’s proudest achievements is an oak bench featuring all 1250 words of the poem If by Rudyard Kipling, which is now on display at Norfolk Design Gallery at Harpley.
He said: “It was a statement piece. It’s eight foot long and took me two and a half weeks to make. The Kipling Society say they would like to feature it on their website.”
