A man fought off two robbers who lured him into a trap then attempted to make off with his wallet and watch in Outwell on Monday.

At about 11.15pm, the victim, a man in his 40s, was driving along the A1101 on the Outwell Road when he saw a person lying at the side of the road close to the Emneth turning.

The victim got out of the car but as he approached the person lying on the floor grabbed him and demanded his wallet and watch. The victim was then grabbed from behind by a second man.

The victim managed to fight off the suspects and they ran away across some fields. He suffered a cut to his arm, although it is not believed any weapon was used during the incident.

PC Larissa Foreman said: “This incident happened late at night and at a very isolated location; however, I would be keen to hear from anyone who may have seen two men walking along the A1101 or in that area prior to the incident.

“While the nature of the robbery may cause concern I would like to reassure people that this appears to be an isolated incident.

“However, I would like to take this opportunity to remind people of their personal safety whilst driving alone.

“Should you see anything that appears suspicious or where you believe someone is in need of help to call the police on the first instance on 101 or 999 if it’s an emergency.”

Anyone with information about this incident should contact PC Larissa Foreman on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
