Fire chiefs urged residents to keep wheelie bins away from their homes after arsonists torched a bin at a house in Wisbech, last night.
A wheelie bin left close to a fence next to a house, in Magazine Lane, Wisbech, was targeted.
Firefighters from Wisbech fire station were called and took less than 30 minutes to extinguish the blaze.
A fire service spokesman said: “A wheelie bin had been left within quite close proximity to a house on this occasion, making this incident potentially very serious if the fire had spread.
“We are aware residents may have small gardens and not a lot of space around their properties, but we are urging them to store wheelie bins out of sight if possible or at the very least, store them a safe distance from your house.”
Anyone with information about the fire should contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
