Competitors from all over the country converged on Skaters in Walpole Highway for the British Speed Skating Championships over the weekend.
Almost 90 skaters raced in various disciplines during the two-day competition, with a strong representation from Wisbech Inline Speed Skating Club.
Wisbech triumphed with James Ashby becoming British Indoor Champion in the 1500m.
Twelve year-old Ellie Sooley-Drew swept the board becoming overall British Champion in 100m time trail, 300m and 800m.
The girls 2000m relay team, comprising Sooley-Drew and Eve McInerney, achieved a new British Record in 3.58-48, making them new joint British Champions.
Michael McInerney, David Billingham, Rob Wiles, Glen Brown, Barrie Wiles, Oli Johnson, brothers James and Jonathan Garwell, Dylan Taylor, Flynn McGurk, Harrison Tuck and India Cooper also represented the Wisbech club with distinction.
Skaters manager Gary Evison said: “It was absolutely fantastic. There were lots of people through the door and lots of cheering. A lot of our regular customers came along to watch.
“All the competitors seemed to thoroughly enjoy the event and hopefully we have done a good enough job to get the event again.”
