Pete Munns produced an inspired spell of bowling as Chatteris continued their good home form with an eight wicket win over Buntingford.

The spin duo of Pete Munns and Shimron Thomas did the damage, but this time it was Munns who took the wickets.

Between them they dried up the runs and took wickets at regular intervals. Thomas finished with 1-33 and Munns finished with exceptional figures of 5-9 off nine overs. Buntingford were bowled out for 127 on a good wicket.

Kurt Cunningham got Chatteris off to a good start before falling for 23. Ben Perry followed shortly after, leaving Chatteris 38-2.

Steve Piper came to the crease and played with aggression, not allowing the Buntingford bowlers to get on top.

He and Munns finished the innings with 57 and 32 not out respectively, with Piper hitting a six to seal the win.

Captain Anthony Palmer said: “It was another all-round good performance. We bowled well taking wickets and restricting the runs and then we were ruthless when chasing the runs down.

“Andy Wool and Pete Munns bowled superbly only conceding 37 runs from one end. Then Steve Piper batted superbly coming in at a crucial time - he controlled the match so we could get a comfortable win.”
