The Cambridgeshire Regiment annual re-union, parade and annual service in took place on Sunday in Ely Cathedral.
As 2015 marks the 70th anniversary of the end of the Second World War, this year’s event included an invitation to veterans to join the association for lunch in Ely Cathedral before the parade.
It was also an opportunity for veterans to meet and talk to young army cadets from the Cambridgeshire Army Cadet Force.
A small exhibition of Second World War memorabilia and a banner display outlining the contribution made by the Cambridgeshire Regiment during the conflict was set out in the Lady Chapel, organised by Capt Julian Crimes.
The guests included the Lord Lieutenant of Cambridgeshire, Hugh Duberly; the Mayor of Ely, Lis Every; Capt Victor Lucas (RN), High Sheriff of Cambridgeshire; Lt Col M. A. Nicholas, Commandant, Cambridge University Officers Training Corps and Capt Phil Lenthall, D (Cambridgeshire Company) 1st Battalion, Royal Anglian Regiment
The parade saw association members and standards of various ex military associations including the Korean War Veterans Association, Burma Star Association, The Royal British Legion and Cambridgeshire Army Cadet Force.
The corps of drums from Cambridgeshire Army Cadet Force lead the march past as the salute was taken by the Lord Lieutenant and the mayor of Ely.
A grant from Cambridgeshire County Council End helped to fund the event.
